Serpro became part of the group of global organizations that support, as founding members, the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust. This new division of the non-profit organization Linux Foundation (LF) was created to promote innovation and collaboration in the development and implementation of decentralized technologies and systems, such as blockchain, distributed ledgers, identity, cryptography, and others.
The LF Decentralized Trust was created with 17 projects, including Hyperledger Fabric, used in the Federal Revenue solutions operated by Serpro, such as bConnect, bCadastro and bCompartilha, the latter also applied to the National Identity Card (CIN).
Alexandre Amorim, CEO of Serpro, highlighted the importance of the partnership. "With this initiative, Serpro reinforces its strategic role as the main provider of technological solutions for government spheres, integrating into a community of innovative leaders committed to building a digital economy that is more decentralized, transparent, effective, and reliable," he highlighted.
Robust environment for blockchain development
For Marco Túlio Lima, Digital Currency, Blockchain, and Web3 Product Manager at Serpro, "the company has an essential role in bringing, through off-chain validations in official government databases, greater trust to business environments, increasing agility and reducing transaction costs in Web3," he explains. Other projects that are part of the partnership include Hyperledger Besu, the basis of the Brazil Blockchain Network (RBB), which involves Serpro, and DREX (Digital Real).
According to Guilherme Funchal, Blockchain Product Manager at Serpro, LF offers a robust environment for the development of enterprise blockchain applications. For him, with this partnership, Serpro strengthens open-source development, driving innovation in sectors such as finance and digital identity. "This collaboration allows Serpro not only to keep up with global technological innovations but also to lead the implementation of decentralized solutions that ensure privacy, security, and traceability of critical information in the country," he declared.
Among the founding members of the LF Decentralized Foundation, national institutions stand out, such as the Central Bank of Brazil (Bacen), the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), the Center for Research and Development in Telecommunications (CPQD), and international institutions, such as American Express, Citi, Deutsche Telecom, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Huawei, IBM, NEC, Oracle, Polygon, Siemens, Walmart and Visa.
