Online SMEs generate R$1 billion in sales on Father's Day

Father's Day opens the calendar of special dates in commerce for the second semester with expectations of good results among Small and Medium-sized Entrepreneurs (SMEs) who operate online stores. In the digital solutions ecosystem, LWSA, which brings together companies with solutions for e-commerce, merchants moved nearly R$1 billion between July and August 2023.

In total, 6.7% higher than the amount recorded by the company in 2022, it corresponds to the GMV in transactions registered by the Tray and Bagy platforms, which offer solutions for online SMEs, such as website creation, marketplace integration, marketing, and other services for operating an e-commerce or virtual store.

The performance is higher than the overall sales volume of commerce on Father's Day 2023, which, according to the National Confederation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism (CNC), increased by 2%.For this year, CNC's estimate is that sales during the period will grow by 4.7%.

Among the most sold product categories during the period are auto parts and tools, clothing and footwear, accessories, jewelry, and electronics.According to Thiago Mazeto, director of Tray, a platform that offers e-commerce solutions such as online store creation, marketing, and marketplace integration, Father's Day is an important date because it gauges how sales and sector performance will be in the second half of the year.

Furthermore, it is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to invest in promotions, kit creations, among other initiatives, to boost their sales. "It is a key date for feeling the sector's temperature for the rest of the year and a golden opportunity for the retailer to attract consumers and boost their sales," he states.

Logistics demand increases

Higher sales also impact the growth in demand for logistics services by SMEs. O Melhor Envio, a freight integrator serving e-commerce segments, recorded a 7.6% increase in July and August 2023, when 130 million packages were shipped through the platform.

"With various suppliers, the platform allows the entrepreneur to offer attractive shipping options to the customer, and we know this is important because shipping is one of the main factors in the consumer's purchase decision," explains Vanessa Bianculli, Marketing Manager at Melhor Envio.

Credit card and Pix are most used

The credit card remains the most used payment method, as it allows for installment payments, but there is a growth in Pix transactions. "The consumer always seeks convenience and ease, and when faced with confusing payment methods or being redirected to other pages, they may end up abandoning the purchase," explains Monisi Costa, Payments & Banking Director at Vindi.According to her, offering a wide range of payment options that meet the diverse preferences of customers reduces the abandonment rate when the product is left in the virtual cart without completing the purchase.
