Seventy-five percent of the new content ofanalyticswill be contextualized for intelligent applications throughGenerative Artificial Intelligence(GenAI) until 2027, enabling a combinable connection between insights and actions, according to theGartner, Inc.
We are moving from an era where analytical tools helped business professionals make decisions to a future in whichanalyticsdriven byGenAIwill become perceptive and adaptive. This will enable dynamic and autonomous decisions that have the potential to transform enterprise and consumer software, business processes, and operational models," saysGeorgia O’CallaghanGartner Director Analyst.
A Gartner survey of 403 analytics or Artificial Intelligence (AI) leaders, conducted between October and December 2024, revealed that over 50% report that their companies use AI tools toinsightsautomated and natural language queries (Natural Language Generation – NLG) for analytics orDevelopment of Artificial IntelligenceEven with these resources, the static nature of theanalyticsCurrently, it often fails to deliver truly dynamic and automated results.
Gartner predicts that the resources ofaugmented analyticswill evolve into platforms ofanalyticsAutonomous until 2027, which will fully manage and execute 20% of business processes. The perceptual future of theanalyticsIt will provide benefits for being proactive, collaborative, connected, contextual, and continuous.
AI-driven perceptual analytics

"Perceptive analytics will use AI agents and other GenAI-powered technologies to continuously monitor evolving conditions and perceive the target environment, such as changes in the market and customer behavior or supply chain disruptions," says O’Callaghan.
Guidance and analysis can then be autonomously adjusted in response, creating a more resilient and responsive analytical infrastructure. As these resources emerge and are adopted by companies, their potential to reshape business operations and drive growth is only expected to expand.
Comprehensive risk of perceptual analytics
According to Gartner's research, the comprehensive risk that applies to theanalyticsPerceptive is the excessive reliance on autonomous actions without sufficient validation, which can result in unintended negative consequences, damage to reputation, and regulatory scrutiny.
The risk of "agent deviation" is a serious concern, where the perceptions and actions of a system gradually diverge from the desired outcomes due to data evolution or unforeseen interactions. Gartner states that guardian agents are emerging to address this inherent problem in AI systems. These agents monitor and specifically enforce policies and rules to ensure that systems operate within a set of protective barriers.
The creation of guardian agents will need to be a key focus of the new governance initiatives for leaders ofData & Analytics(D&A), as theanalyticsauthentic and perceptive become the standard way of providinginsights"on all platforms," complements O’Callaghan.
