The below-average temperatures in this June boosted sales of products to face the cold wave in June. According to a survey conducted by Nuvemshop, the leading e-commerce platform in Latin America, from June 1 to June 12, 2025, online SMEs sold 90,000 products related to cold weather, generating a revenue of R$ 11.4 million, 45% more than the same period of the previous year.
Among the items sold are jackets, hoodies, coats, beanies, and boots. Just with boots, for example, retailers experienced a 93% increase in revenue, going from R$1.2 million in 2024 to R$2.3 million in 2025, with over 7,000 items sold this year.
"We have observed that sudden temperature changes also directly impact online purchasing behavior, with increased demand for items that provide more comfort during these periods. In the same period of 2024, we experienced an off-season heatwave, which also affected commerce. Temperature peaks create sales opportunities for retailers who closely monitor climate changes and prepare to respond quickly to new consumer demands," says Raissa Lisboa, customer experience manager at Nuvemshop.
For the analysis, sales made from June 1 to June 12, 2024, and 2025, were considered based on the Brazilian Nuvemshop merchants' database.
