SQUADRA a technology consulting firm specializing in supporting companies on their digital transformation journeys, announces the launch of Genius, a multi-purpose platform powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and developed to optimize workflow and accelerate the development cycle of digital platforms and solutions that the company creates for its clients. With an investment of R$ 20 million, supported by BNDES, Genius offers a structured, integrated, and secure approach focused on generating value for the client's core business in various sectors, such as finance, telecommunications, utilities, logistics, and others. Combining advanced technology and human expertise, Genius provides a collaborative and intelligent environment that helps SQUADRA specialists transform complexity into simplicity in the projects developed for companies.
In a collaborative and self-guided manner, the platform manages multiple projects simultaneously, such as the creation of modern solutions, the modularization of systems with evolutionary architecture, the reduction of application complexity, among others, integrating different user profiles, such as designers, developers, architects and managers, and creating a conversational digital environment that organizes and accelerates the improvement of the digital business ecosystem.
The solution will be used across different fronts and is already driving legacy system modernization projects carried out by SQUADRA through Legacy Modernization by Genius, which uses intelligent tools to extract value from organizations' legacy applications, document the implicit knowledge of these systems, and reintegrate it in a useful, accessible, and modern way into new applications.
“Many companies today were born in the digital world, but most still live under the pressure of legacy systems and avoid changing these assets for fear of operational failures, which also hinders innovation,” says Romulo Cioffi, Executive Director of Artificial Intelligence, Innovation and Operations at SQUADRA. According to the executive, the decision to start applying Genius to modernize legacy systems is based on the high degree of criticality and complexity of these systems. “We are offering a safe and efficient way to modernize technology, which supports the growth of corporations, updating technologies, reorganizing the structure of applications and keeping business rules preserved with a gain of up to 40% in productivity compared to traditional modernization methods,” he says.
Through a structured semantic analysis process, Legacy Modernization by Genius maps the entire legacy ecosystem of companies, identifying where improvements can be applied, and delivers solutions aligned with the client's core business, driving precision in processes and decisions, reducing errors, and raising the quality of results from the initiative under development. Each project generates a set of updated digital information that serves as a basis for future evolutions, enabling systemic knowledge to become reusable assets to reorganize complex architectures and make them simpler. All this while keeping the business logic intact, and the data 100% internal, updated, governed, and secure.
Legacy Modernization by Genius uses its network of specialized, intelligent tools, working together, to accelerate migration to more modern environments and applications with precision. Features include automated code analysis, which identifies obsolete sections and areas for improvement; business rule extraction, which recovers the implicit knowledge that underpins critical processes; automated test and simulation generation, ensuring that changes do not compromise operations; and code refactoring, which reorganizes and simplifies complex sections without altering their original function.
Furthermore, the solution also includes dependency analysis, including modules, functions, services, and data that need to be integrated during execution, as well as generating technical documentation. With a high degree of customization per client, these tools are configured and created specifically according to each organization's technology. With this solution, SQUADRA promotes hyper-productivity through the automation of repetitive tasks, process optimization, and intelligent use of resources, providing greater operational efficiency, lower costs, faster delivery, and increased reliability.
Legacy Modernization by Genius is already being used in several projects. In the logistics segment, for example, SQUADRA used the solution to perform an in-depth analysis of a client's legacy system responsible for managing train circulation. The solution was essential for exploring existing code with advanced features such as semantic analysis. This made it possible to quickly identify the main concepts, flows, and operational rules, leaving the team fully prepared to safely and accurately migrate to a more modern environment. This approach accelerated the understanding of the legacy system, optimizing analysis time and allowing for greater clarity in migration planning, enabling code generation that would have taken six months to be completed in 30 nights.
“We believe that Artificial Intelligence only makes sense when applied purposefully, driven by a real business problem and not by technological fads. That's why we follow the principle of 'Value First, powered by AI', guiding our decisions with a focus on impact and concrete value,” says Alcebíades Araújo, AI Specialist at SQUADRA.
