Black Friday boosts sales in physical retail with a record high of 18,7%, reveals Serasa Experian

TheSerasa Experian Commerce Activity Indicatorfirst and largest datatech in Brazil, showed that the "Black Friday" offers brought unprecedented relief to physical retail in 2024. Sales grew 18,7% in the week of November 25 to December 1, 2024, in comparison to the same period last year. This performance marks the largest growth ever observed since the beginning of thehistorical series, in 2017. Check the breakdown by year in the following chart

Considering only the weekend of November 29 to December 1 of this year, in comparison with the same period in 2023 (November 24 to 26), the variation was even greater, of 23,9%. "The payment of the first installment of the 13th salary", together with the strategies adopted by retailers, may have significantly contributed to the increase in sales, attracting consumers willing to spend, evaluates the economist from Serasa Experian, Luiz Rabi.
