DCC/UFMG promove evento em comemoração ao Dia Internacional da Cibersegurança

The International Information Security Day is celebrated on November 30. And to mark the date, the Department of Computer Science (DCC), from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) , will promote the DCC Security Day, on November 29. It will be a day of lectures, workshops and mini-courses on the topic of cybersecurity for students and professionals in the field. The event has the technical support of the Brazilian Computer Society and is organized by the research group CCSC (Computer Security Science and Network Security)

There will still be the Alberto Santos-Dumont Challenge, a cybersecurity competition with mixed teams from Brazil and France using Airbus's Cyberrange. The activity will have 10 selected Brazilian participants and 10 French participants. The Santos-Dumont Challenge has the support of the Inria Center at the University of Lorraine, in France, in the organization.

The opening lecture is the result of a partnership between the DCC and Google, will have the theme "Safe AI and Security with AI" and will be taught by Alex Freire, engineering director and leader of Google's Engineering Center in São Paulo. Freire is responsible for development, on a global scale, of anti-abuse technologies and resources to promote people's safety in the digital environment and ensure their privacy

The closing will be with Raphael Machado,Chief Scientist of Clavis Information Security, that also supports the event, about "Vulnerabilities in Critical Systems". Raphael Machado is a Doctor in Systems and Computing Engineering from Coppe – Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute of Graduate Studies and Engineering Research, from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and professor at the Institute of Computing of the Federal Fluminense University.

The computer scientist, Michele Nogueira, PhD in Computer Science from the University of Sorbonne, in France, the professor from the DCC at UFMG is the organizer of the event and will give the lecture "Kick-off of the CNPq METIS project: Women in Exact Sciences in Cybersecurity". According to Michele Nogueira, despite the growing demand for professionals who provide data security and the high employability in the sector, only 25% of cybersecurity jobs are held by women

The computer scientist is ahead, coordinating the METIS Project, with the aim of encouraging women to enter the field of cybersecurity.Metis is the Greek goddess of protection. Women have an intrinsic concern for protection; therefore, bring differentiated and necessary perspectives for building cybersecurity solutions, explain to Michele Nogueira

The METIS Project, that will have its official start on the day of the event, it has as its main objectives the awareness of girls about the possibility of acting in cybersecurity from elementary school to higher education, the development of skills of these girls, the formation of a mentoring network and strategic partnerships for them, the promotion of social inclusion through a highly demanded profession with differentiated remuneration, in addition to influencing the creation of public policies that promote incentives for girls to work in the field
