The issue of gender inequalities in the workplace is something we have been debating as a society, especially between men and women, and there are other minorities as well. Today I want to place the role of self-knowledge at the center of the discussion – and emotional intelligence, that is an intrinsic part of this –; for the fact is that the more human beings develop their self-perception, but will it be able to create equal opportunities for all without distinction of gender
All prejudices separate us; it's like being with a mental visor with significant social damage. It's like looking through a keyhole and seeing only a piece of reality; restricted, since we could see that entire environment. Prejudice is that; reduce people and their potentials to a gender perspective only; how this made them better or worse than each other
We know that the world is collaborative. men and women can and form a beautiful partnership, therefore, measuring someone's potential in any area of life based on gender is a great fallacy. In reality, we are different and complementary. The neurological constructions of women are different from those of men and this is very positive for us to unite, each according to their physiology, our potentialities. What definitely no longer fits is an old and outdated competition. Resistance is an old paradigm that can be overcome with self-knowledge
What we carry in terms of prejudice today is outdated. It is what we still "drag" from previous generations, for example, that determined that at 50 or 60 years old a person was old, preparing for retirement. Do you feel this way? Many times, the woman herself experiences these beliefs. Let's think that it is still something very new to have people aged 50+ in the job market, active, in our society – and gender independent. This is a context that invites us to a new perspective on capabilities, performances and results – we have young people who are not using their potential and we have 50+ who are at the peak of their competence. Innovation brings the freshness of what no longer fits in society, therefore, yes, everyone can reinvent themselves in life and at work, to have the ability to be productive and deliver results of the highest performance
Have you stopped to reflect that what we live today is the result of old choices? Our history books provide answers to ancient questions and now life invites us to a great opportunity for change. It is with this opening that we need to look at people, regardless of age, of gender and color. This is the true evolution and revolution that we need to promote and we are at this moment! Everything starts with dissatisfaction and with dialogue to reach a new place – since the first conversation is with ourselves
In the face of all the difficulties and problems that, yes, they will exist in our lives, we need to ask ourselves: "Very well, what do I do with this?”. If we do not bring this self-reflection first, we will not see the ability to better deal with what happens to us, nor to promote the changes. We will always be with the questions and waiting for the solutions to be realized by the "others"
Self-knowledge makes us dive into ourselves, bringing awareness and pathways to recycle our behaviors, especially the "dusty". And emotional intelligence is essential, it is she who aggregates, connects us, who imagines and creates the world of tomorrow. And we all want a peaceful world. However, in a scenario of prejudices and old answers to new problems, this will not happen
Innovate is the answer! We don't have it exactly yet, just because we need to find her and who does that, mainly, it is those who are living the problem and begin to gain greater awareness of this need. There are those who are already in this movement – be the 50+, the women and each one of us who awakens to this movement –; we all have the responsibility to build new possibilities for living in this world of inclusion. Therefore, a more evolved world
