China has maintained its position as Brazil's leading trading partner since 2009, being the largest exporter and importer to the country. In 2023, Brazil imported over US$1,000,000,000,000 (1 trillion) 53 billion worth of Chinese products, representing approximately 22.11% of all imports into the national territory. Data provided by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC) and the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) reinforce this trend. But, what are the most promising products to import from China to resell in Brazil?
Rogério Marin, an expert in international trade, director of Tek Trade and president of the Foreign Trade Companies' Union of SC, highlights a growing demand for computer products, drones, technology, toys, and pet supplies. However, he warns that this could be a lucrative opportunity only if the entrepreneur has a deep understanding of the sector they are investing in.
Technology and Computing
China is a global leader in technology and electronics production, establishing these sectors as some of the most promising for import in 2024. Products like computer accessories, drones, and virtual reality devices are among the most sought-after. Constant innovation and improved quality of Chinese electronics, coupled with competitive pricing, offer an attractive profit margin for importers.
Toys and Games
The toy and game market also presents lucrative opportunities. China is a major producer of these items, ranging from innovative and educational toys to board games and remote-controlled toys. When importing these products, it is essential to strictly comply with safety standards and regulations. Tek Trade, for example, operates in accordance with the guidelines of the National Institute of Metrology (Inmetro).
Pet Supplies
The pet market has shown consistent growth over the years, with an expansion of approximately 316% over the past six years, according to the Instituto Pet Brasil (IPB). With increasing demand, the sale of pet products represents a great opportunity, whether in wholesale or retail. In this context, importation can become a powerful ally in boosting the business.
Importing from China is a great alternative for meeting demand for products not produced at a high scale in Brazil, or to bring innovations not yet available in the domestic market. However, it's crucial to remember that this will never replace domestic products. Imported items can be a very profitable business, provided the entrepreneur has a thorough understanding of the sector. Profit cannot be generated in something you don't understand. Furthermore, it's essential to have the support of a specialist company in foreign trade, which will manage the entire process efficiently and securely," highlights Rogério Marin.
