A Brazilian Cryptocurrency Association (ABcripto) and the National Association of Credit, Financing, and Investment Institutions (Acrefi) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration between the traditional and digital financial markets. The agreement focuses on the development and implementation of actions aimed at the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (AML/CFT), promoting best practices and regulatory guidance in these sectors.
The protocol establishes a joint effort and expertise from both institutions to engage their members in the standardization process regarding PLD/FT, as well as disseminate knowledge through educational and awareness-raising activities. Among the main goals of the agreement is the development of educational materials and the promotion of initiatives that contribute to mitigating risks and preventing fraud in the financial system.
Priscila Maia, Head of Legal & Compliance at Bitybank, and Carolina Correa, Head of Operations at Coinext, both leaders of the ABcripto Compliance Committee, highlighted the importance of the partnership, stating: "The memorandum of understanding with Acrefi represents an important milestone in bringing the cryptoeconomy and the traditional financial markets even closer together. The collaboration will enable us to work jointly on implementing best practices and building a more secure and transparent market."
For Filipe Pena, executive director of Acrefi, the initiative reinforces the entity's commitment to leading innovation in the financial sector. "The collaboration with ABcripto strengthens our commitment to uniting forces and expertise between the traditional and digital financial markets, promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience. Together, we will develop actions that contribute to mitigating risks and preventing fraud and money laundering, topics of utmost importance for the sustainable growth of the market."
