It was as a way to democratize access to credit in Brazil and eliminate the indebtedness caused by credit cards that Pagaleve was created. In an increasingly technological and connected market, Henrique Weaver saw the opportunity to meet a need for millions of Brazilians who 1) do not have credit card 2) have low limit available or 3) simply do not like the traditional form of payment, when developing a fast and easy installment method that does not need credit cards. And better: uses Pix as a payment platform.
Pagaleve has a B2B2C operation and connects retailers (both online stores and physical stores) through the integrations of its e-commerce platforms to offer consumers the installment of purchases through Pix, without the need to use a credit card.
The company has strong investors such as Banco do Brasil, Salesforce Ventures, OFIF Ventures, Founder Collective, Entree Capital, among others. Fintech was recognized as the largest credit innovation in Brazil in 2022 by Cantarino, and the best credit solution for e-commerce in 2023 by FIDinsiders. Recently Pagaleve also announced the structuring of a FIDC (Investment Fund in Credit Rights) of R$250 million, led by the Belgian investment platform Credix Finance.
Henrique Weaver attributes the company's success to the high acceptance of Pix Parcelado by consumers, especially among young people who avoid using cards during their purchases, whether due to personal preference, access restrictions or credit limitations.“Ter vision in the business world and understand very well its target audiences is essential to identify opportunities before they become obvious and to anticipate trends that will shape the future”.
Also during the Business Administration faculty at the University of Brasilia, Henrique was an intern at Brasil Telecom, in the area of Contracts and Bids. Soon after graduating, his first experience was as a Trainee at Coca-Cola, where he worked for a few years in different cities in Brazil. After attending an MBA at the University of California, in 2012 he began a career in strategic consulting at McKinsey & Company. In 2016, Henrique was invited to contribute to the structuring and expansion of Uber in Brazil, acting as General Manager for a little more than two years. Soon after, he served as CEO of the Indian hotel Brazil.
With a long career and a consolidated career in the business world, when asked about what is the main skill that a professional should seek to develop, Henrique Weaver points out that there are several skills that are fundamental to a successful career: extreme resilience, curiosity, boldness and proficiency in finance are some of them. But if you had to choose one, it would undoubtedly be the ability to extract value from your network, your network.
“Observing successful leaders in the business world I see that this is the competence with the greatest intersection between the various profiles of leaders I have met or who have read about. This competence does not mean being extroverted or charismatic. Much less means 3doing it to’ people in a selfish way. It actually means (1) devoting time and significant energy to meet new people, (2) maintaining the connection with people you already know, (3) be very organized and strategic to register who is in their networks of influence, and in (4) having initiative to ask for opinions and help in a systematic way (ex people with their circle of professional members, weaver members of their circle of contact.
He also points out that in situations where there is a challenge to be solved in the company, for example, the ability of a person to ask for opinions strategically, combine opinions with their perceptions, reach a new level of understanding and do this whole cycle again, is extremely powerful and can be the big difference between having or not succeeding in a specific goal.
Henrique Weaver adds: “I would also give as advice to focus on the things that were in fact some of the great responsible for me getting here: (1) Being more ambitious than it may seem reasonable; (2) Ensuring that you are communicating in the most strategic way possible; (3) Working hard (Unfortunately a successful career is not built from 9h to 17h. (4) And the last and most important: investing time and disproportionate energy in developing good connections. Absolutely all the important achievements of my career have had direct or indirect influence of some connection that I developed over my 18 years of a career, Pay it is a good art and a good connection.
