Great Place To Work, a global consultancy that works with the mission of building a better society, transforming each organization into a “Great Place To Work for All”, has just announced the 11th edition of the award of the 60 Best Companies to Work Retail ranking. The winners were divided into four categories: Small, Medium, Large and Super Large.
The winning companies are distributed in 12 Brazilian states, especially in the southeast region with 28 award-winning companies, and have, on average, 41 years of existence.
One of the highlights of the study is that among the 60 companies awarded in 2024, the hybrid work model, which combined face-to-face and remote work, maintained in 77%, as well as in the 2023 edition. Already the practice of reducing hours had a small drop in the two years analyzed, from 17% in 2023 to 15% in 2024, indicating that this initiative is still offered by a limited portion of companies.
The proportion of organizations offering flexible hours to employees has grown from 67% in 2023 to 73% in 2024, indicating a positive trend in allowing greater autonomy to employees. On the other hand, the offer of home office has suffered a slight decrease, from 80% in 2023 to 77% in 2024, which may reflect an adjustment in remote work policies as companies seek to balance face-to-face and distance practices. These data highlight the continuous adaptation of companies to meet the needs of employees while adjusting their flexibility strategies.

There is a strong female participation, of 53%, however, in high leadership positions women occupy only 28%. Following in this sense, among the CEOs of the awardees, 85% are men, reflecting a low female representation in the highest levels of leadership. This highlights the importance of implementing initiatives that promote gender equality and encourage the female ascension to executive positions.
As for the adoption of mental health and wellness practices, it remained high, with 95% of the companies that earned the GPTW seal implementing these actions.
The study also shows that the practices of companies when employees have children, 8% of the Best Companies to Work For offer maternity leave above 120 days required by law. For paternity leave, the period required by law is 5 days, and 37% of companies offer more time than that.
