StartSe launches movement to train 1 million people in AI

From the need to develop knowledge in Artificial Intelligence, StartSe launches the IA Brasil Movement. The program will encompass several initiatives and partnerships to enhance technology knowledge among workers and companies, offering a free course with the aim of training 1 million Brazilians, accelerating awareness, literacy and critical sense of the country in relation to AI. Some organizations already collaborate with the project, such as IBM, Junior Achievement, CIEE Rio Grande do Sul and Patrus Transportes. 

A recent study by the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) titled “Work expanded to an AI-driven, automated world“ points out that 40% of the global workforce will need to recycle as a result of implementing AI and automation over the next three years, revealing that the global skills gap is already a reality World Bank, There are 3.4 billion people in the global workforce active, meaning that approximately 1.4 billion people are likely to need professional retraining in the short term. 

“We are facing a brutal technological transformation that will reshape the way we live, relate and work. This is the most powerful social change tool we have seen to date.The demand for trained professionals will grow exponentially, and Brazil can stand out in this scenario”, says Junior Borneli, CEO of StartSe. “After, we want to enter the currently small list of countries with 1% of the population already trained in Artificial Intelligence. It is a process that involves all tips, from workers to leaders of companies of all sizes”, he adds. 

According to Flavia Freitas, IBM Latin America Corporate Social Responsibility leader, the IA Brazil Movement aligns with IBM's global commitment to train 30 million people in new technology-related skills, free of charge, by 2030. “We believe that collaboration between companies and organizations to make education more accessible is critical to fostering a more prepared society with more opportunities for upcoming technological advances.Build through IBM Skills and our work with StartSe, we will help students and workers thrive as the labor market evolves”.  

The course AI for All it will be available online and completely free, with accessible language and unprecedented teaching model to facilitate the understanding of people with any background or age. Divided into modules, the learning track brings together introduction to the subject, AI fundamentals, practical examples and, in the end, building AI solutions, in addition to the exchange of experience with experts. 

Borneli also points out that, in addition to professional training, the IA Brazil Movement intends to bring meaningful discussions to society, implementing a culture of innovation and democratic evolution.“The more people and companies join the Movement, the further ahead we can position Brazil and its intellectual potential in this technological fold”, concludes the CEO.
