62% of smartphone searches are to solve everyday questions, research reveals

The annual survey, State of Search Brazil 5 hedgehog Digital, an agency specialized in SEO, revealed that 62% of the quick searches made on smartphones, are to solve everyday doubts.

The study had more than 4 thousand people and presented a percentage similar to that seen in the survey last year, which when asked about the same question, obtained 63% of the answers in “seeking questions that appear in the day to day”.

With 21% of the answers, the survey showed that people use the smartphone/tablet search engine to learn a new skill or knowledge. In general the results presented for the question “which type of survey you perform on the smartphone/tablet”, were:

• Quick, of doubts that appear in the day to day 62%
• To learn a new skill/knowledge 21%
• School/Academic 9%
• To learn more about a particular phenomenon 6%
• Other 2%

Among the interviewees, searches made by smartphone/tablet by text dominated with 88%, while by image, either attaching or taking a photo with 13% and by voice, with drop, compared to the previous study with 13%

In addition, State of Search Brazil 5 respondents showed greater use of smartphones and tablets on a daily basis.

Among people over 50, 68% believe there was an increase in use, while young people between 16 and 24 years old had an increase of 50% in the use of the cell phone in their daily lives.

The present and future of search

State of Search Brasil 5 also questioned Brazilians about the quantity, quality and ease of searches they have performed in the last 12 months and how they believe it will be next year.

The result showed that 6 out of 10 people believe they will do more qualified research and 67% that it will be easier to search for what they need, believing in a general evolution in the results that the search engines will present.

With this, we can predict that the general public expects to do even more research for their smartphones and believe that search engines will continue to evolve, bringing answers in accordance with what they will look for.
