Shopee, in partnership with the Women Entrepreneurs Network (RME), announces the launch of the Women of the Year initiative Shopee & Sellers edition. The goal is to recognize the talent, performance and growth of Brazilian retailers that stand out on the platform.
Entries, open until July 31, are available to all women entrepreneurs who own and/or lead their stores at Shopee, with active sales in the last 6 months. The awards event will be held in November and will highlight 15 women in three categories: digital transformation, social impact and performance.
Leila Carcagnoli, Category Leader at Shopee, highlights the importance of the marketplace as a tool to support female entrepreneurship, contributing to financial independence and the prominence of women in business. Ana Fontes, founder of RME, highlights the relevance of the digital environment for the dissemination of products and services by entrepreneurs, regardless of the size of their businesses.
Evaluations will be done in three phases until November 2024, involving the analysis of entries by a committee of experts from Shopee and RME, as well as a panel of renowned judges.The winners will receive cash prizes and in Shopee Ads to leverage their brand and business presence on the platform.
According to a survey conducted by Shopee, more than 50% of the retailers with sales in the last 12 months are women, with an average growth of 45% of new sellers per year. The platform also points out that digitalization is an important tool for female entrepreneurship, allowing balance between personal and professional life.
Shopee has more than 3 million registered Brazilian retailers, with 90% of orders from local vendors. The company continuously invests in improvements, innovations and professional training of entrepreneurs, having already trained more than 500 thousand through the Seller Education Center.
