Greentech Launches Online Course on Conducting Inventories to Reduce Carbon Emissions

Recently, the Senate approved the Bill (PL) that regulates the carbon credits market in Brazil, compensating companies that reduce emissions and penalizing the most polluting. To help in adapting to the proposal and creating a decarbonization strategy, the Zaya, greentech that elaborates and simplifies the calculation of environmental impact of companies, launched the masterclass “Inventory of Greenhouse Gases”. Registration is already open and the course will be available online on December 29.

Until this day, managers and professionals in the area of sustainability will be able to register for free, since the company also aims to promote access to education on the subject and present the intuitive usability of its software in class. The idea is to show participants how to assemble Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission inventories, the first step to establish a low carbon economy. With this mapping, it is possible to identify where the largest sources of pollutants are and, consequently, the sectors that should be prioritized to reduce impacts on the environment.

The course is produced by Ricardo Dinato and Jessica Campanha, experts in the GHG Protocol, internationally recognized standard for accounting and reporting GHG emissions. The set of guidelines is one of the largest global references for the production of sustainability reports in companies, and is even adapted to the national corporate context in the Brazilian GHG Protocol Program.

“This masterclass was carefully built with a team of experts to teach companies how to be more sustainable in the” business, says Isabela Basso, co-founder of Zaya.“GEE inventories are key tools for defining clear carbon neutrality strategies, which contributes to process optimization, resource savings, alignment to environmental certifications and enhance commitment to the future of the planet to” clients and investors.

Course structure
With more than two hours of duration, the course is divided into two modules. The first consists of five classes, which offer an overview of what an inventory is, its formats within companies and its importance in the corporate sector. In this stage it is taught, for example, to distinguish Scopes 1 (direct emissions from operations), 2 (indirect emissions that happen by the use of electric energy of the company itself) and 3 (indirect emissions from operations).

The second brings a more practical approach, with a step by step approach to how to prepare the document. In this part, we include explanatory videos on the key concepts of CO2 quantification and scopes in the day-to-day of organizations, in addition to what are each of the categories and where to find data for emissions accounting.

For more information and to register for free during the Zaya Black Friday period, Green Week Zaya (after that date, the course will have the full value of R$200), just access this link.
