DHL Express, the world's largest express shipping company, in partnership with Águia Sistemas, a leading manufacturer of storage structures and integrator of intralogistics movement and automation systems, presents the largest cargo processing center in Brazil and the second largest in Latin America at Viracopos Airport in Campinas (SP).
Águia Sistemas developed the advanced logistics automation project for the new cargo processing center to meet the needs of the new facility, which covers an area of 2,500 square meters and operates 24 hours a day.
"Prior to the project, DHL took two to three days to release cargo. Now, with the new investments, the company will be able to reduce this time to just a few hours, providing a faster and more efficient service to customers," explains Helena Tamura, Automation Manager at Águia Sistemas..
In addition to featuring automation technology and design, the center also includes innovations such as automated conveyors and barcode identification systems, which enhance operational efficiency and ensure security and compliance with customs regulations.
"DHL Express invested R$ 23 million in its new cargo processing center. The facility, dedicated to processing imports and international shipments, has the capacity to handle up to 3,000 parcels per hour," explains Mirele Mautschke, CEO of DHL Express in Brazil.
Sustainable building
The Viracopos Gateway received significant investment in cutting-edge technologies, including the construction of a fully sustainable building equipped with 164 solar panels and 100% LED lighting for nighttime. This modern structure allows for the utilization of natural daylight illumination and reduces electricity consumption by approximately 46%. Furthermore, the infrastructure also features water capture systems for reuse, optimizing consumption and contributing to sustainability.
