Hughes do Brasil expands cybersecurity solutions portfolio

Hughes do Brasil, a subsidiary of Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), is expanding its cybersecurity portfolio with the launch of Hughes Cybersecurity & Managed Response and Detection Service (Managed Detection and Response & MDR). The new addition is part of the company's commitment to enhancing the digital security of its customers.

The new Hughes Cybersecurity service aims to detect, act and protect customers against cyber attacks that are increasingly ingenious, complex, creative and harmful to business operations. Any intrusive and harmful action that may cause damage is monitored and detected in real time with the use of protection network structures in layers allied to the latest in technology, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is done through proactive and specific actions to contain threats before they can cause significant damage.

“Cyber attacks cause millionaire financial losses and can generate great losses in terms of reputation for companies. Regardless of size, none of them are free of these risks. What we are doing with Hughes Cybersecurity is to add an even greater level of security, effective and updated to the communication systems and data network that we offer to our customers”, says Ricardo Amaral, vice president of Enterprise at Hughes do Brasil.

According to business consulting firm McKinsey, the cybersecurity market is experiencing significant growth with projections that business investments in cybersecurity products and services will increase by about 13% by 2025. This accelerated growth is driven by the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, especially with the advancement of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). The research also highlights that companies are increasingly dependent on outsourced solutions, mainly due to the lack of manpower and the complexity of attacks, which makes the role of cybersecurity providers even more necessary to sustain operations and innovation in the sector.

“Companies need to be aware of the need to implement a robust protection plan, with rapid incident responses and effective actions, to ensure data security and the continuity of the” operations, Amaral explains.

With the new service, remote monitoring of the network of customers is done using the most modern in the market to combat cyber attacks, in addition to having all the support of an Operations Center (SOC) for action and incident response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “Our Hughes Cybersecurity service is designing for protection in several layers, making it difficult and preventing attacks from happening and causing operational and commercial losses. Our layered protection goes from the firewall perimeter, through notebooks and mobile devices increasingly used by employees to remotely access the corporate network of the company. It is a thorough protection 36.

It is worth highlighting the importance of monitoring these additional layers in a scenario in which most companies have their teams working in a hybrid model, with employees in home office for part of the week.“They take notebooks and other company equipment home and from there access their own home internet networks, which can favor the” cyberattacks, he notes. “The attacks are usually orchestrated: they start superficially and can scale, until they take over the entire company network”, warns the executive.
