CHEP starts operation with 100% electric truck with zero CO2 emission

CHEP, a global company of sustainable logistics and solutions to transform the supply chain, has taken an important step in its decarbonization strategy by starting an operation with an electric 100% truck in Brazil. This initiative reflects the company's commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and environmental sustainability, since vehicles do not emit noise pollution or harmful gases to the atmosphere.

“By contributing to the decarbonization of the planet, we promote a cleaner, healthier and more efficient future”, says Emanuela Mascarenhas, Supply Chain Sr. Manager of CHEP Brazil. The first electric truck is already in circulation in Sao Paulo, while CHEP advances with tests of a second electric vehicle in Minas Gerais, marking the beginning of the implementation of this project in Brazil. In addition, its Service Center in Contagem has solar panels, which leaves the whole process even more sustainable. “This solar energy initiative was also implemented in our largest Service Center in Brazil, which is located in Louveira/SP, and is being added to our entire chain.

The electric trucks are part of a special operation in partnership with Absolute Transportes, a company that has been operating in the logistics industry since 2006. Customized with an impactful message about zero CO2 emissions, this vehicle highlights the importance of sustainability in the transport of goods.

CHEP pallets are made from wood from certified 100% forests, reinforcing the company's commitment to responsible environmental practices. The four-entry pallet bases facilitate the movement, storage and conservation of transported products.

Sustainability and Innovation Perspective

Electric trucks not only reduce CO2 emissions, but also offer savings in operating costs due to lower maintenance requirements and the use of cheaper, renewable energy.According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the electric truck market is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years, being a key piece for the logistics sector to achieve global emissions reduction targets.
