RankMyApp, which specializes in optimization and management in performance media, revealed the search results on the applications that gained the most prominence in 2024. The survey defines the favorite apps of consumers in the categories of gastronomy, shopping, education, entertainment, finance, maps and navigation, health and fitness and social, considering the main app stores: Google Play and App Store.
“O ranking was built based on the presence of apps in the top 10 of their categories in the main app stores. The strategy values constancy and the position occupied in the ranking, assigning greater relevance to those who stay longer in the best places”, the most relevant leandro Scalise, CEO of RankMyApp.
The study does not take into account downloads or reviews, since these metrics are part of the ratings in the application stores. The criteria chosen allow to identify the applications that really stood out and are priorities for users, serving as a reference for marketers who want to understand the behavior of audiences in the mobile environment.
In shopping, Shopee leads in both stores, but the surprise comes with Temu, which ranks in the fourth position. Already in education, Duolingo was Top 1 in both app stores.For entertainment lovers, Max (Google Store) and TikTok (App Store) were the featured apps, with Netflix in the second position.
In the finance category, Nubank was the leader in both stores, the second position was occupied by PicPay (Google Play) and FGTS (App Store). Already in maps and navigation, 99 stood out in the Google store, ahead of Uber, with Google Maps being the first in the Apple store. In health, the Menstrual Flo Cycle is the leader in both, with GymRats getting 9° position of the App Store. Instagram (Google Store) and WhatsApp (App Store) complement each other in social, with Threads in the second position in the Meta category.
“Essa is a very valuable tool to not only understand, but use as a strategy the preference of users. Thus, it is possible to define the best ways to carry out campaigns, promote products and services or establish partnerships”, Scalise points out.
