Spending by Brazilians on Easter grew 14,29% in 2025, driven by extended holiday, Getnet points out

Getnet, a payment solutions technology company of the PagoNxt group, of Santander, discloses the performance data of the Brazilian trade during the Easter holiday. The survey, which compares the dates between the weekends of March 29 to 31, 2024 and from April 18 to 20, 2025, points to a significant growth of 14.29% in the amount that Brazilians spent throughout the country.

The result was mainly driven by the Wholesale sector in physical stores, which registered an increase of 17.97% in the value moved in the period. This growth also reflected the strong performance of the Wholesale Food segment, which, in turn, showed an increase of 8.72%.

Other sectors that stood out were the Supermarkets/Hypermarkets, with growth of 4.16%, and the Fuel and Vehicle Gas Stations, which registered an increase of 12.52%, driven by the trips made during the prolonged holiday.

Despite the growth in total value transacted, the amount of purchases and sales showed a slight decrease of 1.36% compared to the previous year. However, the Wholesale segment followed the opposite trajectory, with an increase of 1.53% in the amount of transactions, mainly driven by Wholesale Food, which grew 11.67% in this indicator.

“Nthis Easter, we observed an increase in the amounts spent, but not in the amount of items purchased for the date. This is explained, on the one hand, by the inflation of Easter eggs, which advanced about 9%, and, on the other hand, by the increase in purchases in general, driven by the 4-day holiday. In summary, we had a shy Easter, but with growth in values and the average ticket, due to the prolonged holiday and the increase in trips in the” period, highlights Rodrigo Carvalho, analytics superintendent at Getnet.
