Study reveals that 701% of HR departments in Brazil still do not use AI in their operations

One study A recent study conducted by the Think Work platform in partnership with the benefits management company Flash revealed that 701% of HR departments in Brazil still do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their daily activities. In a scenario where technology is increasingly present in the optimization of business processes, the survey highlights a significant gap in the HR sector, which could greatly benefit from these innovations.

The survey highlighted that, despite the growing adoption of AI in various business areas, Brazilian HR departments still face challenges in implementing these technologies. Among the main obstacles cited by HR professionals are a lack of technical knowledge, budget constraints, and internal resistance to change.

For Renan Conde, CEO Brazil of Factorial, a unicorn startup developing software for managing and centralizing HR and HR processes, the application of AI in HR is not only a differentiator, but also fundamental for companies seeking greater efficiency and competitiveness. "In the context of large volumes of data and increasingly complex processes, AI not only allows for the automation of tasks such as resume screening, pending tasks, and profile analysis, but also brings a new dimension of intelligence to HR. Companies that adopt these technologies are able to make faster and more accurate decisions, identify talent with greater potential for success, and promote more effective retention strategies," Conde emphasizes.

Interestingly, despite low internal adoption, the sector leads the search for professionals specialized in AI: a survey by HR Tech, Infojobs, indicates that 88,17% of available opportunities are concentrated in this area. This contrast suggests that, although practical application is still limited, companies are preparing for a more digital future, investing in hiring talent who can enable this transformation.

It's no surprise that companies that successfully integrate their teams with new technological trends stand out in the market and adapt more quickly to changes. For Ricardo Nobrega, Partner and Sales Director at IT Intelligence, a consultancy specializing in HR technologies, one of the main obstacles to the adoption of AI in HR is the lack of training among professionals and cultural resistance within companies.

"Many managers still see AI as a threat to jobs, when in fact it can be an ally in making more assertive decisions, using data to eliminate unconscious biases and promote fairer and more inclusive hiring. Investing in training and changing the mindset of leaders and employees is essential to accelerating this transformation," Nobrega points out.

Among the technology's uses, AI has been used in the HR market to automate repetitive tasks, such as resume screening, interview scheduling, and benefits processing. Experts explain that this frees HR professionals to focus on more strategic activities.

This is what Thiago Oliveira, CEO and founder of Monest, an asset recovery company that collects debts through a virtual agent called Mia, connected by artificial intelligence. "This is a huge opportunity for innovation. AI can transform HR by automating administrative tasks, improving talent selection, and creating more effective retention strategies. Those who don't adopt this technology risk falling behind in an increasingly competitive market," he warns.

In recent years, technological advances and the growing use of artificial intelligence have transformed several sectors, including Human Resources. Digital innovations are promoting greater efficiency and agility in processes that were previously dominated by bureaucracy and manual document management. In this context, solutions are emerging that facilitate the work of HR professionals, enabling the optimization of routine and strategic activities.

"The human resources sector has historically suffered from document overload and legal bureaucracy, but with the advent and democratization of AI solutions, starting in 2023, it has become possible to work on increasing company performance in HR management by facilitating the preparation of documents and addendums, automating controls and deadlines, reviewing legal risks, performing mathematical functions quickly, and extracting/classifying data for HR business intelligence," comments Henrique Flôres, co-founder of Contraktor and responsible for the development of CK Reader, the startup's contract analysis AI.
