DHL Express, the largest express shipping company in the world, in partnership with Eagle Systems, a leading company in the manufacture of storage structures and integration of systems for handling and automation in intralogistics, present the largest cargo processing center in Brazil and the second in Latin America at Viracopos Airport in Campinas (SP).
Eagle Systems has developed the advanced logistics automation project in the new cargo processing center to meet the needs of the new site, which has an area of 2.5 thousand square meters and 24-hour operation.
“Before the project, DHL took two to three days to release the cargoes. Now, with the new investments, the company will be able to reduce this time to just a few hours, providing a faster and more efficient service to” customers, he explains Helena Tamura, Automation Manager at Eagle Systems.
The center, in addition to having automation technology and design, also has innovations such as automated conveyors and barcode identification systems, which increase operational efficiency and ensure safety and compliance with customs standards.
“A DHL Express has invested R$23 million in its new cargo processing center and the space, dedicated to processing international imports and shipments, has the capacity to process up to 3 thousand orders per hour”, explains Mirele Mautschke, CEO of DHL Express in Brazil.
Sustainable building
The Gateway of Viracopos received a high investment in cutting-edge technologies, which includes the construction of a fully sustainable building equipped with 164 solar panel boards and 100% LED lighting for the night. This modern structure allows the use of daylight natural lighting and reduces by approximately 46% the consumption of electricity. In addition, the infrastructure also has water harvesting for reuse, optimizing consumption and contributing to sustainability.
