Mobile phone use is a reality for 87% of the Brazilian population who prefer to shop online, according to one survey released this year by the National Confederation of Shopkeepers (CNDL) and the Credit Protection Service (SPC Brazil), in partnership with Offer Wise Pesquisas. Making this process even more practical for users was one of the reasons for VaideBus, a company that charges urban transportation tickets, to have adopted WhatsApp Payments. The new feature of Meta is already available in Brazil and Infobip, a global cloud communication platform, is the first company to carry out technical integration and expansion of the novelty, including PIX as a means of payment for conversations.
What changes, in practice, is that payments for contracted services can be 100% processed via credit, debit or pix card through WhatsApp, natively, reducing the barriers in the payment journey.
“As an example of the first service we have already integrated, VaideBus customers can make purchases of urban transport tickets through WhatsApp in a safe, practical and fast way. It works as follows: the consumer types in a conversation with the company that would like to carry out a recharge and what the value is. In moments, he receives a confirmation request if he wants to pay with the credit or debit card previously registered in his WhatsApp account, or by pix. This is all transacted in a very fast and automated way, which makes the transaction more practical for the consumer and also for the companies”, explains Caio Borges, country manager of the Pay at the first time the bus company Infobip.
Brazil is a great example of success when it comes to tools that work by WhatsApp due to its great popularity. Just as in the national territory, with VaideBus being a pioneer in India, another country where the app is popular, Payments is already in operation since the second half of 2023.“O Brazil is a country where the population quickly adheres to new technologies and this makes this an interesting place for these innovations. In addition, Infobip has the mission of helping companies to improve the experience of their consumers.Make transactions more agile, safe and practical is in line with this goal and this makes this an interesting place for the population to have chatb.1
For the executive, small businesses will also benefit greatly from the novelty, since they can transact via application without the costs of card machines, offering the possibility of PIX, transfer mode without charging fees. “In addition, we will see the growth in sales of these small businesses, since the geographical barrier will no longer be an impediment for something marketed in a neighborhood or municipality have to make the consumer move to another just to make the payment, when you want to use the debit card or credit” Another positive point is that with the interactions 100% with the customer, it will be possible to sell more without the need to invest in staffing.
The application works through APIs, that is, mechanisms that make more than one software component communicate using a set of definitions and protocols. In this way, a logic and interaction is created so that a chatbot can automatically purchase a service after a short exchange of messages with the consumer.
In the case of sales of VaideBus, credits on the transport card are available soon after payment. The company says that in 100% of all calls WhatsApp Payments has been used as a payment format, and 92% of ticket reload sales are completed with its users.
“Chatbots can provide great support for sales through WhatsApp Payments. Without the need to talk to a human attendant, customers make the purchase by answering simple questions. The goal is to expand this technology to other companies and services to innovate and offer good shopping experiences for their customers. We are already in new negotiations to integrate this new payment format for several other sectors in Brazil and in the coming months we will see a dizzying expansion of this modality”, concludes Borges.
