WhatsApp channels become the new job center

Before, the scenario was to print many resumes, put on nice clothes, and go door-to-door delivering the document in the hope of getting a job. That has changed.

The vast majority of large companies concentrate their opportunities in HR agencies, which open their applications online. In other words, now the act of ‘looking for a job’ can happen at home and in pajamas.

In this new reality, one of the ways HR departments are finding to advertise their vacancies, in addition to social networks, is through WhatsApp. The so-called ‘Channels’ are already seen as drivers of this disclosure.

Karina Pelanda, Recruitment and Selection Manager at RH NOSSA, one of the largest companies in the segment in Brazil, says that with the spread of social networks, the advancement of people’s online connections, there are many positions that are not filled simply because people are unaware that they exist:

‘We are always looking to inform people about the available vacancies, meanwhile, the WhatsApp job vacancies channel serves people on a network present in 100% of Brazilian cell phones.’

The manager explains that since its implementation, the company’s job vacancies channel on the messaging app has led to a significant increase in registrations, thus generating the possibility of professional reinsertion;

‘Our channel, for example, advertises our opportunities with direct links for application. You don’t need to install a new app, you receive the job notification, access the link, and apply. The process has been greatly simplified,’ Pelanda concludes.

According to data released by the research We Are Social and Meltwater in 2024, the app became the most used social network in Brazil. The research indicates that 93.4% of Brazilian internet users, aged 16 to 64, use WhatsApp, equivalent to 169 million users.
