If before the scenario was to print lots of resumes, put on nice clothes and go door to door handing out the document in the hope of getting a job, that has changed.
The vast majority of large companies now concentrate their opportunities with HR agencies, and these agencies open their applications online. In other words, now the act of “job hunting” can happen at home in your pajamas.
In this new reality, one of the ways HR departments are finding to publicize their vacancies, besides social media, is WhatsApp. So-called “Channels” are already proving to be drivers of this promotion.
Karina Pelanda, Recruitment and Selection Manager at RH NOSSA, one of the largest companies in the sector in Brazil, says that with the spread of social networks and the increase in people’s online connections, there are many positions that are not filled simply because people don’t know they exist:
“We are always looking to notify people about available vacancies, in the meantime, the Vacancies Channel on WhatsApp serves people on a network present on 100% of Brazilian cell phones.”
The manager says that since the company’s job channel was implemented in the messaging app, there has been a significant increase in registrations, thus generating the possibility of professional relocation;
“Our channel, for example, publicizes our opportunities with direct links to apply. There’s no need to install a new app; you receive a job notification, click the link, and apply. The process has been greatly simplified,” concludes Pelanda.
According to data released by the survey We Are Social e Meltwater In 2024, the app became the most used social network in Brazil. Research indicates that 93.4% of Brazilian internet users aged 16 to 64 use WhatsApp, equivalent to 169 million of users.
