According to the Logistic Operators Profile survey, made by the Brazilian Association of Logistics Operators (ABOL) on request of the Logistics and Supply Chain Institute (ILOS), the 1.3 thousand companies that operate in this sector move about R$ 192 billion and generate about 2.3 million in direct and indirect jobs. Logistics Operators (OLs) serve more than 20 different economic sectors in the country and position themselves in different links of the supply chain.
Compared to 2020, the sectors that grew the most in the presence of OLs in 2024 were Beverages, Automotive and Auto Parts, Metalworking and Clothing and Textile. The study mapped about 30 activities within the logistics functions performed by OLs, including transportation in all modes, storage, inventory control, supply of production lines, among others.
Data from the Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) indicate that the branch of Transportation Insurance handled more than R$ 6.2 billion in Insurance Awards in the period from January to December 2024, which represents a growth of 6% compared to R$ 5.8 billion registered in the same period of 2023.
It is worth mentioning that the Transport insurance branch is related only to policies that aim to compensate for any damage caused to the insured goods during their transport in waterway, land and air travel, on national and international routes (safety of the Vessel, owner of the cargo) or that cover losses for which the carrier is responsible, such as collision, overturning, ramming, fire or explosion of the carrier vehicle (insurance of the Carrier).
In the list of coverages to be considered in the Insurance Plans of the OLs, there are still modalities such as Guarantee Insurance (toward judicial guarantees or protection in contracts), Asset (toward the facilities), Machinery & Equipment (toward machinery such as forklifts, pallet trucks, mats etc.), among others.
