Another international certification was achieved by Red Hat In-Vehicle Operation System in recent days. The new mixed-criticality functional safety recognition is fair to the Linux Math Library license, achieved in July last year, which brings closer the ISO 26262 Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL-B) functional license of the operating system, which allows the solution to be released on the market. The milestone underscores Red Hat's commitment to providing innovative and native Linux functional safety for automobiles.
The mixed criticality demonstrates the platform's ability to run Automotive Safety Integrity Level B (ASIL-B) applications alongside Quality Management (QM) software on a single chip software (SoC) and within a single operating system. This breakthrough is made possible through robust evidence from “Freedom From Interference” (interference-free, in Portuguese) at the operating system layers, setting the stage for a direct integration of safety applications into next-generation automotive systems.
In collaboration with a exitsred Hat has developed and validated a new approach to meet the objectives of functional security standards, including ISO 26262, and which aims to overcome the challenges associated with complex pre-existing open source software.
