On December 2nd, the CMEC – National Council of Entrepreneurial Women and Culture, an organ of the CACB, FACESP, and ACSP, will host the 5th "Liberdade para Empreender" (Freedom to Undertake) event at the Clube Monte Líbano in São Paulo.
The country's largest women's entrepreneurship event will feature a program of lectures, workshops, and panels covering management, retail, digital visibility, artificial intelligence, mental health, and communication. Activities will also connect various brands with participants.
For this edition, which is expected to welcome around 2,000 female entrepreneurs, coordinators of women's entrepreneurial networks from various municipalities, and opinion leaders, Ana Claudia Badra Cotait, president of CMEC, has created a program focused on the main challenges and achievements to inspire the participants. "Today, we have over 10.3 million women entrepreneurs in Brazil, and CMEC's role is to empower and provide all the support for these women to develop their skills, connect with others, and expand their businesses," she adds.
One of the event's attractions will be the lecture "The Obvious Discourse," where businesswoman and actress Giovanna Antonelli will give participants tips on achieving personal and professional success. Felipe Theodoro, a publicist and influencer, will speak on retail and customer service.
Another highlight will be the HOTSEAT, led by entrepreneur Cris Arcangeli, who will provide strategic mentorship to three participants after they give pitches describing their businesses.
Already, Janaina Ortiga Abi-Ackel, a retail specialist, will present the panel Retail Lessons. Mentor Aline Salvi will address the topic Personal Branding: You are Your Brand! And Alessandra Andrade, Director of Pateo 76, and Caetano Maffra, CEO of Cuia Tech, will speak about Artificial Intelligence.
There will also be the Women Who Inspire and Black Power Panels featuring entrepreneurs and executives from various companies, complementary workshops led by professionals and representatives from SEBRAE and ABF, and the CMEC Award presentation for outstanding female entrepreneurs.
At the event's conclusion, participants will enjoy a networking happy hour with activations from various brands.
Female Entrepreneurship in Brazil
According to a Sebrae/IBGE study in 2023, there were 10.3 million women business owners, representing 34.1% of the total entrepreneurs in the country.
To better detail this reality, the "Desenvolve Mulher Empreendedora" Project, a partnership between the Brazilian Confederation of Commercial and Business Associations (CACB), the National Council for Entrepreneurial and Cultural Women (CMEC), and Sebrae Nacional, conducted the research National Profile of the Entrepreneurial Woman To outline the profile of women-led companies and Brazilian entrepreneurs.
The study indicates that:
- 54.21% of the women interviewed are aged 40-59, and 38.31% are aged 20-39.
- 59,8% are white, and 32% are black and brown.
- 78% has children.
- 69,4% are married or in a stable union.
- 39.51 TP3Ts have postgraduate degrees, and 29.41 TP3Ts have completed their higher education.
Of this total:
- 34,71% of the businesses are MEIs.
- 23,9% microbusinesses;
- 93% have up to 19 employees.
The main areas of activity are:
- beauty (16,7%)
