New book by Guilherme Enck shows how to invest in startups and take advantage of the wave of innovation in Brazil

The book “How to Invest in Startups: From Theory to Practice – A Complete Guide to Start Safely” arrives in the editorial market at physical and online bookstores, by Guilherme Enck, an investment and entrepreneurship expert in Brazil. Published by Editora Gente and with an official launch scheduled for September this year, the work presents a practical and structured methodology for investing in startups, offering readers an accessible and reliable guide to surf the wave of innovation and entrepreneurship that is consolidating in Brazil. The book is available for pre-sale and those who purchase a copy before the launch will secure participation in the inaugural edition of the “Entrepreneur in 21 Days” challenge conducted by the book’s author.

A Gaúcho with a degree in Production Engineering and specialization in Engineering Management from Loughborough University (United Kingdom), Enck has built a solid trajectory in the financial market and entrepreneurship. He has worked in mergers and acquisitions and founded several fintechs, standing out as  co-founder of Captable. This last venture has established itself as the largest investment platform in startups in Brazil, enabling the raising of over R$ 100 million for about 60 companies. His experience is that of someone who “has been an entrepreneur since before graduating from college,” reflecting his deep practical immersion in the sector.

At Captable, the venture responsible for introducing more than 7,500 people to the world of startup investments, Enck also excelled as an educator: he conducted courses, lectures, and workshops aimed at helping savers of all profiles understand and take advantage of, with method and security, the opportunities in the innovation ecosystem.

All this trajectory led to  “How to Invest in Startups: From Theory to Practice – A Complete Guide to Start Safely”, which has the significant differential of being a practical and up-to-date guide for the complex Brazilian reality, addressing culture, economy, and local laws. The work fills an editorial gap by offering a perspective from someone who has truly experienced the ecosystem, sharing authentic stories, successes, and fundamentally, the lessons learned from failures.

In a light and relaxed read, the content goes far beyond theory, delving into methods of analysis, valuation and portfolio strategies, always contextualized for the particularities of the national market. Among the topics addressed, the “Power Law” is highlighted, which demonstrates how success in Venture Capital can arise from a few, but strategic and successful, bets.

“The generation of value is migrating from traditional structures to the innovation ecosystem. Everyone is experiencing this; just pay attention to all the tools and solutions we use in our daily lives. If the major epicenter of value creation in the economy is changing, it is natural that we have to adjust our way of investing. Those who insist on staying restricted to the traditional financial market will let this wave pass,” declares Guilherme Enck.

He adds: “The time has passed when investing in startups was only for large funds. Every investor should have at least a small percentage of their assets allocated in these companies. My role is to teach them to do this — but in a sober, careful, consistent manner adapted to the long-term nature of this asset class,” he concludes.

With “How to Invest in Startups: From Theory to Practice – A Complete Guide to Start Safely”, Enck not only informs but inspires, solidifying his position as an essential voice for those looking to thrive in the innovation market and drive the growth of companies with real and lasting impact.

The author will donate all copyright income from the book to Fundação Tênis, a non-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that has promoted the social transformation of children, adolescents, and young people in vulnerable situations for over two decades through sports and vocational training.
