Accepting Fernando Passos’ invitation to take on the role of CEO of Mundial Logistics is a significant milestone that marks a new phase in both my career and the company’s trajectory, representing the beginning of a period of growth and innovation. With the responsibility of leading this company that recently celebrated 25 years with a rich history and a promising future, I share with you the strategies and visions that will guide our next steps, with special emphasis on the upcoming inauguration of our new Distribution Center and Mundial’s own headquarters. This expansion project will include the implementation of artificial intelligence and automation of the new DC operations. It is an endeavor that speaks volumes about our new market positioning.
The transition of leadership to a CEO and the establishment of a Board of Directors are decisions that reflect the evolution of our corporate governance. Fernando Passos, the founder of Mundial, assumes the role of the chairman of the board. Fernando’s experience and legacy are invaluable, and it is with great honor and immense respect that I will continue his work, with the mission of leading Mundial Logistics to new transformative achievements.
We will show the industries we serve that, more than just logistics operators, we can act as true business agents for them, offering intelligent solutions for our clients’ value chain, after all, we have a very clear purpose which is “Making Brands Sell More”.
The new Distribution Center and new headquarters of Mundial Logistics: A milestone in the sector
Certainly one of the first major moments of my management will be the inauguration of the new Distribution Center and the company’s own headquarters, a project where we invested 30 million reais solely in infrastructure, and which represents a significant advancement in our operational and technological capacity. Strategically located near Guarulhos Airport, less than 2km from the Presidente Dutra and Ayrton Senna highways, the Distribution Center has 40,000 m² for warehousing and is part of a 147,000 m² logistics complex of which the group is a partner. With this expansion, we will increase our capacity to 80,000 pallet positions only in Guarulhos, this space was designed to meet the demands of the health and trade marketing sectors, offering modern and efficient solutions to our clients.
With 45,000 pallet positions and the incorporation of advanced technologies, such as state-of-the-art control tower and automation and artificial intelligence (AI) systems, the new Distribution Center not only improves our operational efficiency, but also ensures the delivery of services of the highest quality. This investment expands our operating capacity and positions us at the forefront of logistic solutions for sectors regulated by health authorities, including medicines, cosmetics, foods, and beverages.
The simultaneous inauguration of the new headquarters and the new Distribution Center is just the beginning of a promising journey to challenge the status quo of Brazilian logistics and help our clients sell more. It is important to highlight that the architectural design of the new headquarters is inspired by the world of technology startups and not traditional logistics. My vision for Mundial is to achieve the ‘Customer Delight’ through three main pillars:
- Valuing our people
Capable people, with a collaborative spirit and a sense of common purpose, ensure the integration of teams that is essential for internal process efficiency.
Many companies claim that people are the most important asset, but in practice, they do not ensure the necessary psychological safety climate for innovation and high performance. They end up repeating clichés. In my opinion, when it comes to logistics services, it is about having people who have a ‘passion to serve’ and who are indignant about poor service, reacting to recover and promptly correct the problems that will inevitably occur.
- Operational process excellence:
Excellence has been a word repeated in power points and seldom achieved in real life. We know the great challenge it is to put it into practice in the service industry, considering the level of social inequality and functional illiteracy in Brazil. The key is to take care of the details in each of the main ingredients capable of giving life to this word: people, processes, and technology.
- Technological transformation:
The market for Brazilian logistics operators is large and fragmented, according to ILOS/ABOL studies. We have enormous potential for the application of new technologies in offering intelligent services for optimization and digitalization of the Supply Chain. Technologies such as conversational AIs, automation, robots, IoT, blockchain, for example, are still underutilized, and this scenario is likely to change rapidly going forward. My role will be to ensure that Mundial will act as an agent for this level of change.
By developing each pillar above within a solid ESG agenda, we will ensure the sustainability of the accelerated growth that is to come.
