Three years of Starlink in Brazil: expert comments on the lessons learned and challenges faced by the company

A Starlink, satellite internet company from SpaceX, completed three years of operation in Brazil in 2025. The company has around 313 thousand accesses, according to the latest report by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) in November of the previous year. This scope makes the company the 16th largest in the Brazilian internet market, but a leader in the satellite connection segment, with nearly 60% of subscribers in this segment. However, the number of complaints against it has also increased exponentially, highlighting the importance of the action of specialized providers in connectivity solutions.

Elon Musk’s company offers high-speed internet with low latency through a constellation of satellites in low Earth orbit, promising a fast and stable connection, even in remote areas or areas without ground infrastructure. In this scenario, its service is ideal for smaller businesses located in remote regions, but may not be the best choice for larger companies. As a reflection of these subtle pros and cons that are not widely known, the volume of complaints against the company increased by 168% in Brazil in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the platform Reclame Aqui, reinforcing the importance of understanding the recommended uses for satellite connection and professional support for its hiring.

“Many people have heard of Starlink and its expansion, but not everyone realizes that its use is not the most suitable for all cases. Companies that prioritize stability, security, and swift issue resolution should focus on other formats, and the lack of this knowledge led to the connection proposed by the company being perceived negatively by many. Our ability in connectivity solutions comes into play as a differential for companies seeking a specialized supplier capable of providing the best connection to them,” says Murillo Carvalho, Operations Director of Briskcom, a provider specialized in high-reliability satellite connectivity solutions.

According to the expert, Starlink is a good option for residential users or small businesses in need of fast and affordable internet. However, for more robust companies that rely on a stable and secure connection for their operations, the American service may not be the best choice. “Despite its positive aspects, it does not offer guarantees of availability or service quality, and its customer service is limited. For companies depending on a stable and secure connection, it is important to rely on a specialized supplier that can offer quality service and swift support,” he affirms.
