Starbem e iFood Benefícios reúnem especialistas para debater a saúde mental no trabalho com foco nas exigências da NR-1

Attentive to transformations in the corporate scenario and to new regulatory requirements, the Starbem and iFood Benefits, promote on May 6, at Cubo Itaú, the NR-1 Summit, an event focused on mental health and well-being in the workplace, with the aim of expanding the dialogue on the emotional well-being of employees and presenting practical solutions for companies seeking to create healthier corporate environments, focusing on the adaptation to the new NR-1 (Regulatory Standard No. 1), which will come into effect at the end of May, but without fines for companies that do not adhere.

The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss how changes in NR-1 — which requires the inclusion of psychosocial aspects in occupational risk management — impact companies and what can be done, in practice, to ensure a healthier, safer, and more productive work environment.

Data from the Ministry of Social Security points to an alarming scenario: only in 2024, almost 500,000 workers were absent from their activities due to mental health-related issues, the highest number recorded in at least a decade.

In addition, according to an estimate by Starbem based on data from the last five years, as long as the NR-1 is not implemented, the number of absences due to mental health reasons in 2025 could exceed 710,000 employees. And if the historical growth rate is maintained, a more realistic projection assumes over 4 million workers absent in 2030, equivalent to 5% of the current workforce. In this vein, without the implementation of NR-1, Starbem estimates a loss of more than R$1.5 billion to the INSS coffers, only in 2025.

The event will feature three panels: NR-1 People, about the challenges of HR in the new era of work; NR-1 Legal and Compliance, about navigating legal requirements without headaches and the impact of fiscal changes and how to prepare; and NR-1 Mental Health 4.0, about preventing episodes that affect mental health. The topics will be led by 15 health and HR experts already confirmed at the event, such as Marc Tawill, communication strategist and future of work specialist, Michelle Schneider, renowned international speaker and TEDx Speaker, and Dr. Thiago Liguori, speaker, PhD physician, and LinkedIn Top Voice.

“This event is more than a debate; it is a call to action. We need to create spaces where talking about emotional suffering is not taboo, where active listening, prevention, and support are real and everyday practices. NR-1 is here to remind us that health and safety at work involve not only the physical but also the psychological. Ignoring this is negligence. Confronting this is leadership. And as companies, we need to assume our role in this transformation and redefine the way we think about mental health and well-being at work. Promoting mental health in the corporate environment is a legal duty and social responsibility,” warns Leandro Rubio, cardiologist and CEO of Starbem.

Founded in 2020, Starbem is now responsible for managing over 800,000 lives, with a portfolio that includes psychology, nutrition, and over 15 medical specialties, serving more than 2,000 companies throughout Brazil.
