A Zapping, Chilean startup that owns TV streaming platform, gained a weight boost to accelerate its expansion plan within the national market. The CEO and co-founder of the brand, Gustavo Morande, has just moved to Sao Paulo with the aim of strengthening operations in the country, which today has 20 thousand subscribers. For 2025, the company's goal is to reach the mark of 150 thousand customers in the country. Adding the operation in Brazil, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, the platform now has more than 250 thousand subscribers.
From the change, Moranda joins a team of 24 professionals who work directly in the Brazilian operation. “When we talk about Brazil, we are dealing with a culture and languages different to the rest of Latin America, as well as a gigantic territorial extension. This results in technical and brand challenges that require special attention”, details the CEO.
In addition to the arrival of the executive, the expansion strategy on the national scene also involves attracting investments that, together, should total the brand of US$ 10 million. The first of the financial injections should be formalized as early as this month of November, in a total of US$ 2 million together with the Broota platform, which uses the crowdfunding model to encourage startups and innovation companies in Latin America, the rest will be raised with investment funds, family offices and investors linked to the television industry.
According to the CEO 60% of all the figure that will be raised should be aimed at enhancing the Brazilian operation. The value should be used with a focus on marketing and growth actions, in addition to the consolidation of the sales team, since the technological structure of Zapping is already stabilized in the country.“O Brazil represents a special scenario in Latin America. With the agreements and contracts with the major brands we have, I am convinced that we can grow a lot throughout the Brazilian territory. By reaching a level close to what we have achieved in Chile, we can reach a base of millions of subscribers”, adds Morande.
Another expansion initiative involves the expansion of the brand within the ISPs market. Integrated with the main approved ERPs in the country, Zapping projects to expand its presence in the sector through partnerships with internet service providers. For this, the platform bets on exclusivity with some of the main broadcasters in the country and the world for the streaming market, in addition to the strong connectivity structure, which guarantees it presence in all regions of the national territory, without requiring extra investments by partner ISPs.
