What began as a group for organizing rides via WhatsApp evolved into a mobility platform handling up to 50,000 monthly trips in Olímpia (São Paulo). The initiative was launched by Gesiel Capistrano, who, after nearly a decade working in construction projects in the interior of São Paulo, decided to return to his hometown and identified ride-hailing as a business opportunity.
Faced with high passenger demand and the challenges of manually managing ride requests, Capistrano decided to invest in developing his own app. “Thus, GP Car was born, launched with an investment of approximately R$ 5,000. Currently, our operation includes between 120 and 150 drivers, a number that fluctuates according to the region's tourist flow,” he comments.
The model has delivered consistent earnings for professionals; full-time drivers grossed up to R$ 20,000 in August, the busiest month. Meanwhile, those working only during business hours achieve around R$ 4,000 monthly, an amount considered above the local average.
Nationally known for its Folklore Festival and for hosting some of the world's most visited water parks, Olímpia has been attracting an increasing number of tourists. The city, with 55,000 inhabitants, practically doubles in size during peak season. This scenario, combined with the construction of an international airport, projects new opportunities for GP Car.
“The focus is on expanding responsibly, without compromising the quality that won over our customers. Olímpia is growing rapidly, and our goal is to grow alongside it,” states Capistrano.
