In its second year of operation, the Mention, the first Public Relations startup in Latin America, expects a revenue of R$ 7 million by 2024 – a growth expectation of 400%. Last year, the company received a pre-seed round of R$ 1.7 million, used to enhance its platform and expand the team.
Since 2022, Mention operates in the software as a service (SaaS) model for clients in various sectors such as tourism, health, education, technology, legal, and sustainability, as well as serving communication agencies interested in expanding their operations and improving customer relationships.
“Mention was born with the purpose of revolutionizing the Public Relations market, bringing technology and innovation to the field. Our clients have access to a comprehensive platform that streamlines and optimizes the work of building reputation and media relationships, allowing them to focus on what really matters: the growth of their businesses,” highlights Beatriz Ambrósio, CEO, and founder of Mention.
A survey by the Semrush platform stated that Brazil represented 4.3% of the total traffic of OpenAI in 2023 alone, ranked as the 5th country that most visits ChatGPT. Considering this, one of the main solutions created by Mention is Gepeto, an artificial intelligence that helps PRTech writers produce strategic content for negotiation with the press, capable of providing insights and automating writing patterns for products such as press releases, agenda suggestions, and opinion articles.
An expanding atmosphere in the communication market
After achieving a record of R$ 4.9 billion in 2022, the Public Relations and press advisory market was expected to grow by up to 20% in 2023, according to the Brazilian Association of Communication Agencies. However, not all agencies are part of the routine of companies that rely on money to make media decisions or even time to follow all the press relationship processes.
Therefore, the consolidation of Mention in the communication market can be understood as a creative and disruptive atmosphere for a new proposal of agile and accessible Public Relations not only in Brazil, but throughout Latin America.
“At Mention, our vision is simple: to make Public Relations effective for all companies, regardless of size or resources. Therefore, our expectation for this year is to redefine the paradigm of this sector and intensify our services to bring communication closer to increasingly popular technologies, showing that there is a new – and easier – way to what we already knew about press relations,” concludes Ambrósio.
