The Central Bank announced that Automatic Pix will be launched on June 16, 2025, promising to transform the subscription and recurring payment market in Brazil. The new system will allow for automatic charges via Pix, eliminating barriers like expired credit cards and forgotten bills, which can boost the conversion and customer retention rate.
According to a Chargebee study, 45% of recurring companies lose at least five hours per week with manual billing adjustments. Additionally, about 35% of transactions fail, reaching up to 70% in some cases. Another relevant indicator is that in the first quarter of 2024, Pix accounted for 46% of purchases made by Nuvemshop platform merchants, surpassing credit cards, which accounted for 44% of paid orders. These data reinforce the trend towards adopting Pix as the primary payment method in e-commerce and the recurring market.
“We believe Automatic Pix will be a game-changer for subscription clubs. Unlike traditional direct debit, it will be more accessible and without banking bureaucracy for adoption. This will allow small and medium-sized businesses to implement recurring models with more security and financial predictability, opening up new opportunities for companies looking to create subscription models without relying on cards”, says Luan Gabellini, co-founder of Betalabs Technology and an expert in e-commerce and recurring subscription solutions.
