Opera announced last week the availability of the new beta version of the browser for iOS, which now features a completely redesigned user interface inspired by the award-winning Opera One aesthetic. The app, reimagined to provide an even more intuitive and functional experience, is available for testing and should be officially launched with additional features and updates by the end of September.
The latest version of the browser features a more intuitive system wrapped in a clean modular interface. The address bar has been moved to the bottom for better accessibility. It will completely disappear when the user starts scrolling the page. This design allows switching between three navigation styles: Standard Navigation, Quick Action Button, and the new bottom address bar.
Additionally, the old news feed has been replaced with a carousel on the home page. By swiping through this carousel, users can see a timeline with highlighted news stories that open a separate news page. This will provide more detailed coverage and a more attentive and distraction-free reading. The home also includes the latest soccer games with live scores, ensuring people don’t miss any action from their favorite teams.
Other new features in this update include the swipe-to-search feature – where users can open the search menu without needing to use the standard navigation or the bottom bar – and new search suggestions. This way, the company aims to make it easier to discover what one is looking for.
The Opera for iOS also maintains its focus on speed and security, with a variety of built-in features like ad and tracker blockers and a free VPN. And, like all Opera’s core products, the browser features Aria – the company’s free and unlimited AI.
In this new beta version, it will also be possible to ask Aria to generate images on the phone using the Imagen2 image generation model from Google. Just ask the AI to create what’s in mind, and the browser’s artificial intelligence will make it a reality. If the result is not exactly as expected, Aria can refine the image until the person is satisfied.
