Mercado Livre launches “digital products” vertical and strengthens its presence in the gaming universe

Mercado Livre, the largest e-commerce in Latin America, announces the launch of its vertical “Products Digitals” – a new business front that allows the purchase of items 100% online with immediate delivery, strengthening its presence in the gaming universe. The initiative represents a strategic expansion move for the company, with an initial focus on gift cards, subscriptions, and credits for platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo, as well as services like Game Pass and Fortnite.

“Mercado Livre is already recognized as one of the main shopping destinations for gamers, offering a wide range of products for this audience. With the launch of this new category, we’re taking an important step toward further strengthening this presence, expanding our value proposition in digital entertainment. This offering combines speed, convenience, and security in a fully integrated experience, from purchase to delivery in real time,” he states. Gonzalo Greco, Marketplace Director at Mercado Livre.

The launch comes at a time of strong growth in the sale of gaming products on the platform. In the first quarter of 2025, sales volume (GMV) of these items increased by 42%, compared to the same period in 2024. This result also reflects the growth of new buyers in the technology category as a whole, which registered an increase of 27% in the period. All of this performance was driven by factors such as high purchase recurrence, especially from Generation Z, high average ticket and fast deliveries.

Since the beginning of the tests of the “Digital Products” vertical, the Gift Cards de PlayStation e Nintendo were among the best-selling products, highlighting the advancement of digitalization in the consumption of gamer content. These items complement the console offering, such as the PlayStation 5 (Digital and Physical) and Xbox Series S which led the category’s sales volume in the first quarter of this year, and the recent launch of Nintendo Switch 2 (on June 5th), reinforcing Mercado Livre’s capacity in relevant launches in the global gaming industry.

Gamer Week with discounts of up to 50%

To continue engaging with this audience, the company promotes, from June 16th, another edition of Gamer Week, an initiative that brings together a comprehensive curation of products from the gamer ecosystem with discounts of up to 50% in consoles, peripherals, and accessories—such as headsets, keyboards, computer components, and notebooks. This initiative is part of the company’s strategy to establish itself as a leading destination for gamers in Latin America.
