With an increase of 4,4% in the fifth bimonthly period of 2024 compared to the same period last year, Brazilian retail expects to maintain the growth pace for 2025. This is what the result of the report presented by IBGE in the second week of December shows. Among the activities that recorded considerable growth during the period are the textile sectors, clothing and footwear (5,7%), personal and household items (5,2%) and that of furniture and appliances (4,9%)
Such numbers may be even larger in 2025, explain Flavia Mardegan, sales specialist and commercial strategic planning. According to Flavia, the more the sector is attentive to global changes and trends, the results will be better. "We are in a practically unprecedented period of humanity with five generations actively interacting", consuming a wide variety of products and in the most diverse ways. Each one with its own particularities, requirements and desires. "Those who do not pay attention to this will be left behind", affirms
This peculiar scenario had never been seen in the world until then, requires a lot of attention from those who work in retail, from the businessman to the seller, says the specialist. According to Mardegan, the concern of retail has always been to sell more efficiently and on a large scale. However, the movement is now reversed, with companies needing to deeply understand the consumer to, not only offer him the best cost-benefit, but also to retain it. "The key word is personalization". Retail has already understood that the era of 'everything for everyone' is over, complement
Another point noted by the specialist is the need for physical stores to adapt to this context, with the help of strategies such as thecustomer experience(CX), or customer experience, that should be as positive as possible; customer success(CS), or customer satisfaction as a whole; andomnichannel, what is the provision for customers of multiple channels for purchase, connection and relationship. "The same retail that serves a more conservative person who prefers to go to the checkout line to pay for their purchase", it also serves people who are technology enthusiasts and who use virtual fitting rooms, for example. "It is this broad perspective that is in vogue in the world today", concludes
For 2025, the forecast is that retail will invest even more, not only in new configurations of your physical points of sale, but also in the way it sees its multiple types of clients
