Apex-Brasil, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), and the Brazilian Embassy in Lisbon, in partnership with Serpro, Sebrae, Embratur, and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI), promote the Internationalization Mission for Brazilian startups interested in the European market. The mission lands in Portugal in November to participate in Web Summit, one of the world's largest conferences on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The Brazilian delegation will be composed of up to 80 technology-based companies, with scalable solutions and the potential to open operations in Portugal or Europe. 25% of the spots are reserved for startups led by women, 25% for startups from the North and Northeast regions, and 50% for startups from any region. The applications for the selection process go until August 18 and can be made at theprogram page.
Benefits
Startups selected for the mission will have access to a series of benefits, including:
- Access to the Web Summit Startups Program: each company will be entitled to three credentials, one day of exhibition and participation in all activities of the aforementioned program.
- In-person activities in Lisbon: during the event, participants will be able to enjoy in-person pitch training, seminars on the local ecosystem and innovation events.
- Training and mentoring: all selected startups will participate in a mandatory training from September 9 to October 31. Additionally, they can choose between three optional tracks, depending on their objectives in the mission.
Serpro Trail
The federal government’s technology agency participates for the third time in the Internationalization Mission at Web Summit and will be responsible for the "Serpro Program of Partnership with Startups" track, aimed at companies that use information technology in their core business. Topics such as biometrics, information security, massive APIs, and scalable business models will be discussed in this training.
The other optional tracks are for companies seeking foreign investment and those wishing to open operations in Portugal.
Brazil united by innovation
For Loyanne Salles, Superintendent of Communication and Marketing at Serpro, the state's support for the International Expansion Mission reinforces its role as the main public information technology company of the Brazilian government. This joint effort, according to her, demonstrates the government's unity in promoting and expanding the national startup market, both in Brazil and abroad.
“By driving innovation and technological development, we seek to position Brazil as a global innovation hub. The Web Summit is not just a showcase for innovation, but a catalyst for opportunities that transform ideas into global businesses. In addition, the mission is consolidated each year as an effective strategy, opening doors to new markets and strategic partnerships, also strengthening the Serpro brand within this ecosystem,” says the superintendent.
