Following a decision by the 1st Region Federal Regional Court, the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) began blocking some betting sites.
The decision responds to an instrument aggravation by the Rio de Janeiro State Lottery (Loterj), which had requested the blocking or suspension of sites “that irregularly exploit fixed-odds bets”.
In total, Loterj listed 115 companies that currently operate in the state of Rio de Janeiro and do not have a state license to operate betting.

According to the decision, Anatel should verify the operational legitimacy of the companies listed by Loterj and, if negative, take the appropriate measures, within the limits of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
