Pinbank, Secure Transfer, and GrainChain launch app to facilitate used car sales in Brazil

According to a survey by Senatran (National Traffic Secretariat), Brazil has approximately 173 million vehicles, with over 40 million of them having some type of restriction in the system. Another survey conducted by Fenauto (Federation of Used Vehicle Dealers) indicates that almost 16 million used vehicles were sold in 2024. Aiming to optimize the digitalization, security, and agility of this market, Transferência Segura, Pinbank, and GrainChain, developed in partnership with the " applicationTranferenciasegura.com”.

The platform combines regulatory access, banking security through escrow, secure orchestration, and a single workflow journey for businesses and citizens. Here's how it works: after the buyer and seller define the terms of the deal, the system, which is connected to Renainf (National Traffic Infraction Registry), identifies debts and restrictions to summarize the car's status; then, the buyer deposits the purchase amount into a regulated account, with automated legal-financial clearing; and finally, the documentation is updated, funds are released, and both parties receive digital receipts.

For Pinbank CEO Felipe Negri, this structure can help reduce fraud, speed up negotiations, and build trust for both private transactions and those at dealerships. "The secondary vehicle market in Brazil is enormous, and today, vehicle transfers can take weeks, in addition to bringing risks such as scams, cancellations, and disputes. The idea of the "Tranferenciasegura.com’ is to eliminate these obstacles by offering more security and transparency for buyers and sellers. The escrow deposit eliminates the need for the famous ‘down payment’ and avoids delays and headaches before the completion of the purchase,” he says.

Leandro Zanardi, CTO of 'TransferenciaSegura.comreinforces that digital transformation is inevitable. "Buying a car doesn't have to be a leap of faith or a complex and risky move. That's why we created an intuitive and secure platform that synchronizes payment finalization with the legal transfer of ownership. Everyone involved is informed in real-time about the status of the process," he explains.

Another differential is that the solution was designed to be dispatch-friendly: each transaction is accompanied by a dispatcher individually assigned to the operation, ensuring support and compliance at all stages. In addition, the platform is already integrated with more than 240 vehicle inspection stations throughout the country.

The solution also brings a robust audit layer, with each step verifiable and traceable, helping to detect irregularities early and allowing for clear resolutions. "All phases are solidly managed, minimizing risks and making it possible to conclude negotiations in a few days," highlights Luis Macias, CEO of GrainChain.

The initial launch is in São Paulo and the Federal District, focused on transfers between individuals. The roll-out to other states and to legal entities and merchants is already underway, with plans for accelerated expansion. The service will be available on a web portal and mobile application (iOS and Android), with tiered plans for high-volume partners. Marketplaces and dealerships will be able to integrate the tool as white-label or via API.
