A new study conducted by Mercado Livre reveals important insights into Brazilians' online shopping habits. The study, which aimed to better understand consumer behavior in e-commerce, revealed surprising data about the purchasing process and the strategies used by users.
According to the survey, 75% of consumers say they would complete their purchases if they received discount coupons or promotions. This data highlights the importance of marketing strategies and incentives for sales conversion in e-commerce.
An interesting behavior identified is that 72% of respondents have the habit of filling their virtual carts and 'abandoning' them. However, this abandonment does not necessarily mean disinterest: 50% of participants state that this is a way to save the product to make the purchase at another time. Despite that, only 44% actually return to complete their purchases.
The survey also revealed that 53% of respondents make online purchases monthly. Among the main reasons for dropout, the high shipping cost and delivery time stand out, cited by 41% of respondents.
Cesar Hiraoka, marketing director of Mercado Livre, commented on an important insight: "Almost 30% wait for promotional dates from their favorite e-commerce sites to make the purchase of that abandoned cart product." In response to this discovery, the company launched a creative campaign, spreading giant boxes from Mercado Livre with 'abandoned' products in the carts, aiming to encourage the retrieval of these items.
This initiative demonstrates how e-commerce companies are adapting and responding to consumer habits, seeking innovative strategies to increase conversions and improve the online shopping experience.
Mercado Livre's research offers valuable information for the e-commerce sector, highlighting the importance of promotions, discounts and remarketing strategies to recover potential sales and meet the expectations of Brazilian consumers in the digital environment.
