Less than 20% of individual microentrepreneurs seek the services of accountants, reveals research

A survey conducted by MaisMei showed that only 17% of managers who choose this tax regime seek accounting professional services. The most requested services are tax declaration (53,22%), followed by the issuance of an invoice (22,63%). Although less in demand, business tips (8,62%) and financial planning (5,71%) also appear as a market opportunity for accountants and accounting firms

The survey analyzed 5.640 microentrepreneurs registered in the company's app, that is intended to assist and perform management tasks of the MEI, to understand the average profile of these managers.

Kályta Caetano, head of Accounting at MaisMei, assesses that the scenario can be positive, depending on the point of view, but the low demand for professionals who assist in organizing finances is concerning. "We know that the tax regime for MEI was designed to be more accessible in terms of costs and simplified bureaucratic tasks". Considering that, we can understand that most are able to carry out these tasks on their own, however, it is always wiser to have the assistance of a professional to assess aspects such as monthly revenue average, to avoid exceeding the annual ceiling (currently at R$81 thousand); and the regularization of overdue contributions, explain

Within the scope of microentrepreneurs who seek accounting services, 66% only do it when they need to

"We realized that the MEIs", in general, are more reactive. That is to say, they still do not see accounting services as a continuous and strategic partnership to anticipate challenges and seize opportunities. A good accounting professional can help improve business strategies, how to have an emergency fund, and even better take advantage of the social security benefits of the MEI, reinforces Kályta Caetano, reminding the ignorance of a large part of the managers in this last aspect

According to the same survey, 23,49% of individual microentrepreneurs (MEI) in the country, almost a quarter, they do not know that they have social security benefits such as temporary disability assistance and even the right to retirement
