The logistics multinational, ID Logistics Brazil, with a strong presence in e-commerce, is ready and prepared, awaiting the busy date of Brazilian online commerce. After adjusting for the volumes practiced post-pandemic, the expected growth is 25% in the number of orders compared to the same period in 2023, which has been growing by approximately 20% annually.
The main and challenging measure of the strategy for Black Friday, outlined in June together with its customers in the segment, is the hiring of temporary employees for an area that already suffers from a labor shortage – the operator recently published a notice with more than 2 thousand vacancies.
According to Rogério Elias, Regional Operations Manager at ID Logistics, during peak times such as Black Friday and Christmas, the number of operational staff increases by 10% to 20%. According to him, a multiplier collaborator is responsible for training new hires. The vacancies are for logistics assistant with a chance of hiring.
Another important measure is the provision of equipment, such as radio frequency collectors, forklifts, uniforms and PPE, among others, if necessary.
The manager explains that two scenarios are outlined for the date. The first follows the already established plan and, in case of an increase in the expected number of volumes, the strategy that considers the synergy between different distribution centers, or even within the same warehouse for the quick movement of employees and equipment, is used.
In retail, another area of operation for ID Logistics, the work focused in October on restocking stores, mainly with electronic items, white goods, televisions, among others. In this case, the increase in volumes measured was approximately 10%. The same happens with the food and beverage industries, which, according to Anderson Almeida, also Regional Operations Manager at ID Logistics, expanded the portfolio of products handled by the platforms.
Working with two scenarios, the one planned in the strategy and the one that could occur if volumes rise above expectations, ID Logistics puts into practice the migration of employees and equipment between different distribution centers, or even within the warehouse itself for activities with greater demand.
