Hoteis.com launches ranking of accommodation rates by destinations

Hoteis.com launched the new edition of theHotel Price IndexAnnual report analyzing the main trends in accommodation prices around the world, such as: the cities with the most luxurious five-star stays and those offering the best cost-benefit. According to the survey, Paris leads the global ranking as the city with the highest average daily rate in five-star hotels: US$ 730. Next are Milan (US$ 695), Miami Beach (US$ 684), and Orlando (US$ 669). In Brazil, the surprise was Manaus, which surpassed Rio de Janeiro and took the top spot on the national list, with daily rates reaching up to US$ 577 for five-star accommodations.

"For travelers who are increasingly conscious about price, the Hotel Price Index offers a unique lens on information about the best way to capitalize on money. It's like a travel tips page that reveals where to spend, where to save, and where luxury subtly costs less," says Melanie Fish, Global Vice President of Public Relations and travel expert at Hotels.com.

Cities like Bangkok, São Paulo, and Mexico City stand out for offering hotels with good rankings, in any star category, proving that traveling well doesn't have to mean high rates. Price variation: 2023 vs. 2024 

THEHotel Price Index as wellcompared the variation of average accommodation prices between 2023 and 2024. Belém leads the ranking of increase, with a 20% rise in daily rates. Next, São Luís (9%) and Florianópolis (8%) appear, and with more modest increases, João Pessoa and Maceió (both with 7%). On the other hand, traditionally expensive destinations surprised with a drop in prices. Gramado recorded the largest reduction, with a 12% decrease in rates, followed by Natal, with a 7% drop.

The study revealed the most affordable luxury destinations in the world, based on the highest-rated five-star hotels on the platform. The report highlights national and international cities where it is possible to enjoy a sophisticated stay without exceeding $300 per night. Among the destinations with the highest values within this range are Rio de Janeiro, Athens, Budapest, Dubai, and Copenhagen, with daily rates ranging from US$ 298 to US$ 285.

Conversely, travelers seeking more comfort with better cost-benefit find in Brazil more affordable five-star options that stand out in the global ranking. Despite the growing preference for less explored destinations, traditionally sought-after vacation spots continue to offer excellent quality at more competitive prices. Among them are:

Guadalajara, in Mexico, leads the list with the lowest rate: US$ 149 per night. Next are Hanoi, Vietnam, and Pattaya, Thailand, both with daily rates of $157. Gothenburg, in Sweden, with US$168, and Istanbul, in Turkey, with US$169, complete the ranking, combining stunning landscapes and skyscrapers with breathtaking views at equally attractive prices.

Great value: 4 stars are the new luxury 

Based on the analysis from Hoteis.com, hotels in Brazil have a significant difference between 3, 4, and 5 stars, but the best variation is between 2 and 3 stars for offering the best value for travelers looking to enhance their stays. The daily rate is 21% higher for those who choose to upgrade. Meanwhile, the percentage rises to 94% among accommodations with 3 and 4 stars, while 5-star hotels cost, on average, 233% more than 4-star accommodations. The overall daily rate of a 4-star hotel is $199, compared to $450 for a 5-star, revealing better cost advantages for similar benefits.
