A Getnet, PagoNxt group payment solutions technology company, do Santander, discloses the performance data of Brazilian trade during the Easter holiday. The survey, which compares the dates between the weekends of March 29 to 31, 2024 and April 18 to 20, 2025, points to a significant growth of 14,29% of the amount spent by Brazilians across the country
The result was mainly driven by the Wholesale sector in physical stores, which recorded an increase of 17,97% of the amount moved in the period. This growth also reflected the strong performance of the Food Wholesale segment, what, in turn, showed an increase of 8,72%
Outros setores que se destacaram foram os de Supermercados/Hipermercados, with a growth of 4,16%, and the Fuel Stations and Vehicle Gas, which recorded an increase of 12,52%, driven by the trips made during the long holiday
Despite the growth in the total value transacted, the amount of purchases and sales showed a slight decline of 1,36% compared to the previous year. However, the wholesale segment followed an opposite trajectory, with an increase of 1,53% of the number of transactions, primarily driven by Food Wholesale, that grew 11,67% in this indicator
This Easter, we observed an increase in the expenditure values, but not in the quantity of items purchased for the date. That explains it, on one hand, due to the inflation of Easter eggs, that advanced about 9%, and, on the other hand, due to the increase in overall purchases, driven by the 4-day holiday. In summary, we had a shy Easter, but with growth in values and in the average ticket, due to the extended holiday and the increase in travel during this period, highlights Rodrigo Carvalho, Getnet analytics superintendent
