PIX, contactless payments, digital wallets, and many others; digital payment methods have already won the hearts – and the wallets – of Brazilians. Since the implementation of PIX, the number of users and transactions has only increased; according to the Central Bank, 58 billion transactions were carried out through the platform in 2024. The expectation for 2025 is that these methods will become even more refined. With that in mind, Evertec+Sinqia conducted a survey to discover the main trends that will shape the market in 2025.
Among the most anticipated new features for the year are the functionalities that PIX will offer, which promise a more practical and faster experience: contactless PIX and automatic PIX. Starting from February 2025, it will be possible to make payments via PIX using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. The automatic arrives in June of this year and aims to enable recurring payments without the need to open the banking app.
The payments sector in Brazil is dynamic, diverse, and should continue to be an example for other countries in Latin America and the world. There is a favorable cultural component because, in general, Brazil is quite open to experimenting with new technologies, but there is also the resilience of the Brazilian financial system, improved after many difficult years of hyperinflation. This year, AI is expected to accelerate transformations in the payments market and bring even more efficiency, convenience, and security to transactions. - declares Evertec's vice president of payments, Daniel Oliveira.
Other payment methods, such as mobile payments, Click to Pay, Drex, and digital wallets, also appear in the survey as possible bets for this year. To learn more about the details of the analysis prepared by Evertec+Sinqia, access the materialHEREor download the material below in full!
