Brazilian creates 'Netflix' for immigrants to make life easier for those who go to the US

Data from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shows that in 2023, 28,050 Brazilians obtained a green card – the American permanent residence document. It is the largest volume in history and the fourth consecutive record in the last five years. Additionally, 12,570 naturalizations of Brazilians were registered in the same year, making Brazil the 16th country to receive this benefit.

Faced with this scenario of growing immigration flow to America, a Brazilian businessman created theViva Academy, digital platform that aims to be the “Netflix for immigrants”, with several videos and interactive content to resolve the main doubts and challenges faced by those seeking to establish a new life in the USA.

The platform offers content tracks that explain, for example, how the immigrant can buy or rent a house, purchase insurance, enroll children in school, obtain a scholarship, secure financing, create a resume in English, get a driver's license, and validate their diploma, among other possibilities.

Viva Academy's mission is to simplify the immigrant's journey by offering a unique methodology based on real case studies and content taught by specialists. For a subscription of R$ 1,197 per year, users have access, during this period, to a collection of hundreds of videos on various topics, which together are expected to total 200 hours of content by the end of the year.

“Our goal is to make life easier for these immigrants by providing information, knowledge and security, eliminating the uncertainties surrounding the immigration process. Viva Academy is more than a platform; it is a community that supports and inspires,” says Angelo Whosoever, founder of Viva Academy.

The platform, available on the web and in apps for Android and iOS, is 100% digital, ensuring easy and convenient access from anywhere. Monthly, new tracks are released, keeping users always updated. Additionally, subscribers have access to exclusive discounts on services from partner specialists, such as visa assistance, educational consulting, and psychologists.

Weekly, Viva Academy hosts live sessions with specialists to keep users updated on immigration news, allowing immigrants to ask questions in real time.

From theory to practice

The idea of Viva Academy arose after Whosoever's experience with their immigration process, which took about two years and resulted, in 2024, in the approval of their I-140 Form – the first step before the final issuance of the green card.

“Throughout my research and talking to others, I realized that there are a number of bureaucratic and cultural obstacles that need to be overcome in addition to the green card. That’s why I decided to create a platform that not only guides immigrants through the process, but also helps them integrate and thrive in the US before they even leave Brazil.”

With plans to expand the collection to more than 500 videos and reach 10,000 registered users by the end of 2025,Viva Academy wants to establish itself as the main reference for immigrants seeking not only a green card, but also a full and successful life in the United States.
